About Hunter’s Inn, Devon

Originally a thatched cottage, Hunter’s Inn was rebuilt in the “Swiss Style” during the Victorian era. It now sits amidst four acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, providing a picturesque setting for weddings and family gatherings.

Hunter’s Inn is nestled in the heart of protected land in North Devon. This charming property includes ten en-suite guest rooms, a bar and restaurant, and Heddon Lodge – a fully accessible, self-catering two-bedroom apartment.

Mobility Trampers are available from the nearby rangers’ office, allowing visitors to explore the easy-access path down to Heddon’s Mouth Beach.

Hunter’s Inn is part of the National Trust’s collection of 39 exceptional pubs and restaurants, many of which hold historical significance.

Every stay, meal, and drink at Hunter’s Inn supports the conservation of local wildlife and helps improve accessibility throughout the valley.

Finding Us

We wanted to make you aware of some upcoming road works next to The Hunters that may, unfortunately, affect your stay, though we sincerely hope they won’t.

José’s Lane (from the A399) is currently closed due to bridge works, which are scheduled to take place between 12 May and 22 December 2025. We remain fully accessible via Broadoak Hill (off the A39); however, please note that these roads can be narrow and are not suitable for HGVs.

Some of the construction work can be quite loud. While we’ve taken steps to minimise noise disruption, the building’s original windows may still allow some sound to travel through.

If you’re staying over a weekend, there’s no need to worry, the works won’t be taking place. For mid-week stays, however, please be aware that work is scheduled from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily.

We sincerely apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and truly appreciate your understanding.
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
