The Hunters Inn, Heddon Valley

At The Hunters Inn, we are committed to offering a warm, welcoming, and inclusive experience for all our guests. Nestled in the heart of Exmoor’s Heddon Valley, our historic inn is surrounded by natural beauty and a unique setting. We recognise that our rural location and traditional building may present some accessibility challenges, and we are actively working to improve access wherever possible.

We aim to support the needs of all visitors. Whether you’re joining us for a relaxing stay, a meal, or simply passing through on a walk in the valley.

Getting Here & Parking

Our inn is accessed via Heddon Valley Road, with clear signage from the main route through Exmoor. We offer on-site parking, and while spaces are limited, we will always prioritise accessible parking close to the main entrance where needed.

Please contact us in advance if you require assistance on arrival—we’re happy to help with luggage or provide guidance from the car park.

Entrance & Public Areas

  • The main entrance has one step and is not currently ramped; however, assistance is always available.
  • Public areas such as the bar, dining room, and lounge are located on the ground floor with no steps at the bar entrance.
  • Flooring throughout is a mix of hardwood, carpet and tiles, with reasonably level access once inside.
  • All internal doorways are wide enough to accommodate most standard wheelchairs and mobility aids.
  • Toilets for guests are located on the ground floor. At present, we have one dedicated accessible toilet, but we are happy to discuss individual needs to find a practical solution where possible.

Accommodation

  • As a historic inn, our guest rooms are accessible only via stairs, and we currently do not have a lift.
  • If you have specific accessibility requirements, please contact us before booking so we can discuss suitable room options or provide assistance with access.
  • Our team is always happy to help with luggage and mobility support where needed.

Hearing & Visual Impairments

Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the inn, including the bar, restaurant, and guest rooms.

While we do not currently have hearing loops installed, our staff will assist guests with hearing or visual impairments to ensure a comfortable visit.

Printed materials can be provided in larger font upon request.

Evacuation Procedures

In the event of an emergency evacuation, our team will ensure guests with disabilities are safely

supported. Please let us know at check-in if you may require additional assistance so that we can make the appropriate arrangements.

Assistance Dogs

We welcome assistance and guide dogs in all public areas and guest rooms. Please let us know in advance if you’re travelling with a service animal so we can prepare accordingly.
